My reflection on Jack Kirby Disney Legends tribute at D23 Expo 2017

As one of the millions of artists who he inspired for the price of a 10 cent comic of my youth, I can't begin to the find words of gratitude to thank Jack Kirby: The King of Comics, the way he influenced, amazed, and encouraged me, without ever knowing me. I did see him once at a comic con, and envy friends who knew him personally. When the desire to do comic books took hold for me in my teens, I thought, it would be the greatest honor to do comics and inspire some future budding artist. I never did many comic books, only a couple of pages, professionally. I can only hope one of the projects I worked on in my art /animation career may have inspired at least one kid to follow their dream of being a artist as Jack Kirby did for me. In many ways. I'll keep trying, because I owe that to Jack.

My Demo Reel

Here is my animation Producer / Director Demo reel. Some what dated, but there is still some nice stuff in it. Gargoyles, and Thundercats have been released on DVD, but Ozzy and Drix, and Men in Black, have yet to be released. I'm especially fond of the Nascar Racers series. I still think it looks pretty good for it's time, and better than the new Speed Racer series. There was a lot of great CGI racing action in the show. I'll have pull some more clips to show. The series is now owned by Disney and I doubt if it will be released on DVD. (They have a property call "Cars", you know)

It nice to revisit these shows, but I look forward to moving on to my own projects.

Kingdom Hearts - Mickey Mouse the Warrior

Heres a cool image from the CGI trailer Of the game Kingdom Hearts II - Final Mix. It features Disney and "Final Fantasy" Characters. Final Fantasy is one of the most popular RPG (Role Playing Game) in the world, created in Japan. Kingdom Heart is a interest cross-culture mix, that seem to be doing very well (I admit I haven't played). With the on-going debate in some animation circles about 2D versus 3D renderings of classic characters, I thought this might be worth a look.

Speaking of Final Fantasy here's a encore viewing of the Dragonfly Game Flipz™ book I did of the Final Fantasy XIII game trailer. The game is planned for release later this year or early next. So far this Game Flipz™ movie has received over 8,881 viewing on gametrailer.com and youtube.com with many positive comments from Final Fantasy players and fans. I'm still attempting to get follow up contact from Square-Enix, the game company behind Final Fantasy, to get permission to produce this book. But, until then, just enjoy the movie.

Meet the Robinson - Dragonfly Cinema Flipz Book

Disney's Meet the Robinson's animated feature opens later this month. It looks like a lot of fun, I really like the trailer. Back in December, I did this Dragonfly Flipz book from one the movie's trailers. The Flipz book came out really well. A sample of this Flipz book is floating around Disney's marketing department right now, or forgotten in someone's desk. I was told there was interest in doing something with it but there's been no contact since January (I can take a hint). So, I'll try to post a fan movie of it on youtube.com soon. It may be the only chance it has to be seen.
