First, sorry for the long break in postin Sunday Music Muse Day post. I got busy preparing of the Senior Day presentation at the Strong Musuem of Play. All in all, it went very well. ((I'll be making a separate post about that).
Also, starting with this muse Day post, I'll start adding the date in the title. I have no idea if it make a difference the few who stumble across. Thanks, if you one of them.
For today' post ,here something old and something new. First the new release by John Sneider - The Action is in the Juice. I jumped just as the pre-order dropped in my Facebook feed. I've be a fan of John since seeing him perform with, and meeting him through his brother guitarist Bob Sneider, year ago. This s nice sold straight-ahead jazz outing. Well worth a spot on your jazz listening rotation. The growing musical legacy of Sneider family continues with "The Scrapper's" latest.
Next, is the old, Larry Coryell - Vanguard Visionaries features tunes performed and recordings of the late jazz fusion pioneer for the Vangaurd record label. Larry Coryell looks so young on the cover, it's hard to recognize him. Many of the familiar tunes bring back the rough edge sounds of early jazz fusion. It's well worth this trip down memory lane. My best friend, and co-Best Man at my wedding, Rodney Means might have been the one who introduced Coryell's playing to me. Coryell and Pat Martino were two of his favorites. Sadly both are no longer with us, but their music still has a place in our hearts a souls.
