Here's a slight cheat for Throwback Thursday. I found this new book at my library, Masterful Marks - Cartoonist Who Changed the World by Monte Beauchamp. It contains 16 wonderful graphic biographics of some of the pioneers of cartooning, like Siegel and Shuster, Jack Kirby, Charles M. Schulz, Edeard Gorey and others. I posting the first page of each piece, because I couldn't decide who to leave out. Enjoy.
"Jack Kirby (with Joe Simon). Unpublished pen-and-ink artwork for Stuntman, circa 1946". from Masterful Marks. Just compare the line work to the Kirby comic art of the 1960's. What a difference.
"Harvey Kuttzman: original artwork for Frontline Combat #7: ©1952 E.C. Publications. Inc. All Rights Reserved. From the collection of Gleen Bray" - introduction Masterful Marks.
