Mainly, guitarists playing jazz-fusion in the 70's and 80's. First up, Julian Lage Speak to Me. Reviewing his Wikipedia page, for a relatively young player, Lage has an impressive discography. Speak to Me is a subdued outing, but full of thoughtful, entertaining music.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1y1q6-OqGG98DL6CdrD1_kImekm67IoTTFTay1vZywCOUshD2-FW9_VeJCfP1-POFK5syCagrTKptAOnp1HqnYDobRcjJujUtCPCxXKbb69zAMfyaIokLeR2oxox610o7GnohOAVgsvR3YJB6A_kcFs1o5S1bjspEl5arn4CefdsdduHPpM-KujVjoRNu/s3263/Julian%20Lage%20Speak%20to%20Me.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2900" data-original-width="3263" height="284" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1y1q6-OqGG98DL6CdrD1_kImekm67IoTTFTay1vZywCOUshD2-FW9_VeJCfP1-POFK5syCagrTKptAOnp1HqnYDobRcjJujUtCPCxXKbb69zAMfyaIokLeR2oxox610o7GnohOAVgsvR3YJB6A_kcFs1o5S1bjspEl5arn4CefdsdduHPpM-KujVjoRNu/s320/Julian%20Lage%20Speak%20to%20Me.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyqLHvnKqSky7PyyqKG6u_WoY_6Nb6p9mr80z8Pnv75wCH2MQ9UUmo5SZA0oWXaXgjtnQXDt8CV2iEQZRGZWYLmXbZqzHJqd2Z2cu9kVfVnKsN_7qFpFoK6WnM3b5HxIT6oFwnalFCumon2Bv_KYZ2LRoKWr2-jGQhIgI5_Adq5X5w367VJ-8YcPSzEZVX/s3263/Julian%20Lage%20Speak%20to%20Me2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3263" data-original-width="2900" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyqLHvnKqSky7PyyqKG6u_WoY_6Nb6p9mr80z8Pnv75wCH2MQ9UUmo5SZA0oWXaXgjtnQXDt8CV2iEQZRGZWYLmXbZqzHJqd2Z2cu9kVfVnKsN_7qFpFoK6WnM3b5HxIT6oFwnalFCumon2Bv_KYZ2LRoKWr2-jGQhIgI5_Adq5X5w367VJ-8YcPSzEZVX/s320/Julian%20Lage%20Speak%20to%20Me2.jpg" width="284" /></a></div><br />My second choice, Dominic Miller Second Nature. Again, Miller is a guitarist I really wasn't aware of except for seeing his name on a ECM recording (to be honest, I took a chance on this one because it was a cheaper price). And, again, reviewing his Wikipedia page, I realized he's been building a impressive discography as a leader and sideman, most notably as the guitarist for many of String's post Police recordings. I like hearing his nylon string guitar playing in various group combinations. I'll definitely pick up his ECM recording next time I go CD shopping.<div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5Vfr_5eJmOIpd77-te0iOpnshtLiLg-uqGJeHD4Op-7xoQ8egHRtmOEty8xE_iuUVBd-CIzGdzRlhfnw39yCW5IM_ej4j7zQUyJS-BKjzJI4Al9bW7EF1sefPWz8CAj1kE3DLXVlhvaexqhVgOD3-Ng_T1X-6SxBE4TsiTUE4A1qLycpnFapT9YE_9o2u/s3263/Dominic%20Miller%20Second%20Nature.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2900" data-original-width="3263" height="284" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5Vfr_5eJmOIpd77-te0iOpnshtLiLg-uqGJeHD4Op-7xoQ8egHRtmOEty8xE_iuUVBd-CIzGdzRlhfnw39yCW5IM_ej4j7zQUyJS-BKjzJI4Al9bW7EF1sefPWz8CAj1kE3DLXVlhvaexqhVgOD3-Ng_T1X-6SxBE4TsiTUE4A1qLycpnFapT9YE_9o2u/s320/Dominic%20Miller%20Second%20Nature.jpg" width="320" /></a></div></div><div><br /><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_yQogihvlFb4jlT7OajIOVmm3KwydslQEQMXVpaTyHuZX2_FDUy3qfb1x2HEC0QhLM8anxspNcipRmRbaImJEKNLGblUDc-Pj7GxtbpoI5zGeIJMXq3DVUCrDCS6eK4eQ78K6AfL_9MDYufYfQhBMVZdTCXs_sKH79tHPgnPkLaPTqMdooI1fFRjz7MN7/s3263/Dominic%20Miller%20Second%20Nature2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2900" data-original-width="3263" height="284" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_yQogihvlFb4jlT7OajIOVmm3KwydslQEQMXVpaTyHuZX2_FDUy3qfb1x2HEC0QhLM8anxspNcipRmRbaImJEKNLGblUDc-Pj7GxtbpoI5zGeIJMXq3DVUCrDCS6eK4eQ78K6AfL_9MDYufYfQhBMVZdTCXs_sKH79tHPgnPkLaPTqMdooI1fFRjz7MN7/s320/Dominic%20Miller%20Second%20Nature2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />I like to found new music, well at least to me. I admit this isn't normally my taste in jazz, but I totally enjoyed the show. Their playing was adventurous and entertaining. I'm constantly being amazed at the depth of Bob guitar playing. Kristin was new to me, and <span style="font-size: 15px; white-space-collapse: preserve;">mentioned they haven't played together in ten years, and she was jet-lagged from traveling from Norway. Neither affect their amazing playing in the least. </span>I liked her so much I bought a CD of hers at after the show. I'd like to see them record a set together.</span></p><p><span style="background-color: #444444; color: #eeeeee; font-family: inherit;">Here's Kristin Korb Beyond the Moon, a 2016 bass, piano, drums set. First, Nicki Parrott From New York to Paris, a collection of vocals and tasty bass playing from a musician I hadn't heard of before. Although the liner notes states she was the bassist for guitar legend Les Paul for ten years. That fact alone was worth a listen. Plus, and she has 27 albums releases. This CD is more "lounge jazz" for my taste, but the quality of her singing, playing and recording production is top notch. In fact, the CD is listed on a best jazz of the year list I've seen online. It will make for dinner background music for the most part, for me.</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNCf7lZ-4VbZjMqLIiay4GGuc26JywXXpg_v34_3Gf5U9bsHvuyeoNzciN-xyzEg5ActStXI6BGRAMauclJiEy7YHXjyq1H9aNDX2OqM5c2ht1AhD3HY1RGWh8zjqebOH7wtrdDsiY64brwysPczjue4aurkavdZjRMv9OucnoXcLydCB4qtcbGkCwXpzJ/s1100/Nicki%20Parrott%20From%20New%20York%20to%20Paris.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="983" data-original-width="1100" height="286" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNCf7lZ-4VbZjMqLIiay4GGuc26JywXXpg_v34_3Gf5U9bsHvuyeoNzciN-xyzEg5ActStXI6BGRAMauclJiEy7YHXjyq1H9aNDX2OqM5c2ht1AhD3HY1RGWh8zjqebOH7wtrdDsiY64brwysPczjue4aurkavdZjRMv9OucnoXcLydCB4qtcbGkCwXpzJ/s320/Nicki%20Parrott%20From%20New%20York%20to%20Paris.jpg" width="320" /></a></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHtvy3dydNyEhu1Iqa9N-_5HQLhYtRZohRarijC7iapuByBoFj4r-qRtotWeBVy_vQMQxY6BzXdUmnl68sXNKCzYH63TZw0DNKKTYVe_ajcyr5PPz43fpQZul05138WkKBsxWnNTrh4PC-2nMUxe8wEOzXPr7zo2GpDpR9okUx7Tnn90EYW4uT4s70nUS6/s953/Nicki%20Parrott%20From%20New%20York%20to%20Paris%201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="944" data-original-width="953" height="317" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHtvy3dydNyEhu1Iqa9N-_5HQLhYtRZohRarijC7iapuByBoFj4r-qRtotWeBVy_vQMQxY6BzXdUmnl68sXNKCzYH63TZw0DNKKTYVe_ajcyr5PPz43fpQZul05138WkKBsxWnNTrh4PC-2nMUxe8wEOzXPr7zo2GpDpR9okUx7Tnn90EYW4uT4s70nUS6/s320/Nicki%20Parrott%20From%20New%20York%20to%20Paris%201.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4eDlvmhhIWAYZPbbtowroMNWczbWrITdeWLeTSz2QULYlECjdO0ATwLa7TxtqSC-JA05zYdW2ZozFThseYQ04U_nnqYAHSvWViHQlsFkr0EbP_f_JyHXeHX7aEi-Ejtgbn_QmMJrSidYz1HpLDSy4su4kfJg7442aFNwhbA8i9dD1gbhuox49vKH2FDmx/s947/Nicki%20Parrott%20From%20New%20York%20to%20Paris%202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="934" data-original-width="947" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4eDlvmhhIWAYZPbbtowroMNWczbWrITdeWLeTSz2QULYlECjdO0ATwLa7TxtqSC-JA05zYdW2ZozFThseYQ04U_nnqYAHSvWViHQlsFkr0EbP_f_JyHXeHX7aEi-Ejtgbn_QmMJrSidYz1HpLDSy4su4kfJg7442aFNwhbA8i9dD1gbhuox49vKH2FDmx/s320/Nicki%20Parrott%20From%20New%20York%20to%20Paris%202.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX8sM5Iw4cu5bm_qFLH8U1ZoywMRbJDn7j-Yrceo5fd79YCYGhyarqjDEBMvJLqvHhuUY7be-q9ODluEsyeug6U80pWCpgbFJCpPj09AHYuSUvC-CLKnyp4YKvUsr9BYjxd8G9YqfGVgLjVCkaGRUpeqTnvU5C7bupyPbBknAiwH07gvuFUPjkGUVA0GiD/s1098/Nicki%20Parrott%20From%20New%20York%20to%20Paris%203.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="986" data-original-width="1098" height="287" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX8sM5Iw4cu5bm_qFLH8U1ZoywMRbJDn7j-Yrceo5fd79YCYGhyarqjDEBMvJLqvHhuUY7be-q9ODluEsyeug6U80pWCpgbFJCpPj09AHYuSUvC-CLKnyp4YKvUsr9BYjxd8G9YqfGVgLjVCkaGRUpeqTnvU5C7bupyPbBknAiwH07gvuFUPjkGUVA0GiD/s320/Nicki%20Parrott%20From%20New%20York%20to%20Paris%203.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="background-color: #444444; color: #eeeeee; font-family: inherit;">Thinking of female bass players, I'd like to add the amazing Esperanza Spalding to the mix., with her Emily's D+Evolution. If you remember the buzz about Kate Bush's tune "Running Up that Hill", used in the Netflix series Stranger Things, you'll enjoy this unique outing by a young multi-talented musician. She's best know as a highly awarded jazz bassist and college music instructor. This could be a concept album and "Emily" a alter-ego. In any case, It a very densely produced modern style. I find the vocal styling hard to follow without reading the lyrics, but that could be my old ears. My favorite tune is the tune " Unconditional Love (Alternate Version) with blistering guitar solo by Matthew Stevens.</span></div><div><span style="background-color: #333333; color: #cccccc; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMMgjxgf2XWkf0P11Hd0STZL40rWGSDfpe8wShHtEU4RQm4BE96w059NAfp8bZ-1o5PzNnRvufJ0xCGC9FkpHfuMI0E79uLIOQEz4dzl_14ktVIIuCxEuE2pCBgjWFXkymg12u9EvbE9I8BrpnTlPALwkOl2zZ-eZ31ln2qGHhk5A6W44n6_OlDOet-a3f/s1112/Esperanza%20Spalding%20Emilys%20D+Evolution.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="984" data-original-width="1112" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMMgjxgf2XWkf0P11Hd0STZL40rWGSDfpe8wShHtEU4RQm4BE96w059NAfp8bZ-1o5PzNnRvufJ0xCGC9FkpHfuMI0E79uLIOQEz4dzl_14ktVIIuCxEuE2pCBgjWFXkymg12u9EvbE9I8BrpnTlPALwkOl2zZ-eZ31ln2qGHhk5A6W44n6_OlDOet-a3f/s320/Esperanza%20Spalding%20Emilys%20D+Evolution.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBjWegxv-Ktzw7f9tcZDxay5OIB2sI0zzUGDR6Pwa6QmAjc_3EE7awFVTJ_vuuTuQPxf4h-7_PG1tb_2iWzkttWlkI0OP2ZP8a30bCfBLXgSYXmoIQhWgjAubkH2Z1fTjcnwk_mBqIAGB6C3J063MWx2NNrgrzYhqXsvlE4aTHFbX8CeJZL5w3QgmGyurx/s1891/Esperanza%20Spalding%20Emilys%20D+Evolution%201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="950" data-original-width="1891" height="161" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBjWegxv-Ktzw7f9tcZDxay5OIB2sI0zzUGDR6Pwa6QmAjc_3EE7awFVTJ_vuuTuQPxf4h-7_PG1tb_2iWzkttWlkI0OP2ZP8a30bCfBLXgSYXmoIQhWgjAubkH2Z1fTjcnwk_mBqIAGB6C3J063MWx2NNrgrzYhqXsvlE4aTHFbX8CeJZL5w3QgmGyurx/s320/Esperanza%20Spalding%20Emilys%20D+Evolution%201.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjzpiGHaQy8ctybIndTR0ieRqvsh3tsi16iR-jUavzdTpj7lANyz5oGRTA8DtpsyhhL5yUGBw9m2syWNshciDGhW6hpTD_POre2wTl94wTA6vUq4erEftSk1J05gKCu9JRQCTNLEuJ2rK5OGJ4BQR4gH_i6cbMJlUarQtltxn3o_Z5Smxl4yQZDOjHeCpk/s1105/Esperanza%20Spalding%20Emilys%20D+Evolution%202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="990" data-original-width="1105" height="287" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjzpiGHaQy8ctybIndTR0ieRqvsh3tsi16iR-jUavzdTpj7lANyz5oGRTA8DtpsyhhL5yUGBw9m2syWNshciDGhW6hpTD_POre2wTl94wTA6vUq4erEftSk1J05gKCu9JRQCTNLEuJ2rK5OGJ4BQR4gH_i6cbMJlUarQtltxn3o_Z5Smxl4yQZDOjHeCpk/s320/Esperanza%20Spalding%20Emilys%20D+Evolution%202.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So that my step outside my jazz listening comfort zone. First up, The Nels Cline 4 Currents, Constellations, with Cline on acoustic and electric guitars, Julian Lage on Guitar, Tom Rainey on drums, and Scott Colley on acoustic bass. I know of Nel Cline as a more "out there" alternative jazz player and I have CDs but Julian Lage, so I will put the effort in to give this a good listen.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVJCwdr61CDWwa3oYE_Bi-8B_x3mfor-j8724fGJ86q8qJXqx3JAw33_sT24f4baSAV33g86k_jOIkkFrrACRV4Cu25GREIOSHxXLgTZ1AoUY1Ls004hYDWt0KlpSwRliU1qYQNZhpiftFjhHX09Hhur3KysFDCEOqqrBdiJOFdoL2YHPdfyeLYUnpMY5N/s3326/Nels%20Cline%204%20currents%20constellations.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3033" data-original-width="3326" height="292" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVJCwdr61CDWwa3oYE_Bi-8B_x3mfor-j8724fGJ86q8qJXqx3JAw33_sT24f4baSAV33g86k_jOIkkFrrACRV4Cu25GREIOSHxXLgTZ1AoUY1Ls004hYDWt0KlpSwRliU1qYQNZhpiftFjhHX09Hhur3KysFDCEOqqrBdiJOFdoL2YHPdfyeLYUnpMY5N/s320/Nels%20Cline%204%20currents%20constellations.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFyNSXyOSOb-eX0s4iQ7aRbAiHBJJjvS3yr5VSGQqbXPCv8JMWgQiV0xK0BK65QAqNwde7luNxWG6bihJsS0-BKmGzC_wlbydxzNrJeBhFWGRRFexNOmJos2pv4lgyPp533cRDV6TBr5VrfHLsJ7TydqhRwrnzVzJeVW-txmBP4P8LNqUJ4RF0dvWtIYXn/s3326/Nels%20Cline%204%20currents%20constellations2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3033" data-original-width="3326" height="292" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFyNSXyOSOb-eX0s4iQ7aRbAiHBJJjvS3yr5VSGQqbXPCv8JMWgQiV0xK0BK65QAqNwde7luNxWG6bihJsS0-BKmGzC_wlbydxzNrJeBhFWGRRFexNOmJos2pv4lgyPp533cRDV6TBr5VrfHLsJ7TydqhRwrnzVzJeVW-txmBP4P8LNqUJ4RF0dvWtIYXn/s320/Nels%20Cline%204%20currents%20constellations2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />Next is Rez Abbasi Bazaar. Again, I have several CDs of the guitarist's music and can find them enjoyable but sometimes hit or miss. Bazaar presents a cross-cultural blend of jazz and Indian music, with Indian vocals and sitar-guitar. I'm trying to avoid any comparison to John McLaughlin Mahavishu/Shakti music. So, again I'll try to give this so time to be digested.<div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd0aCTS10yHidOD8puhqt74B_ng8MXA0mIArFkdE18XjXOKHUm3DE9SRly-Gy5DbopiIggW6NCpiXYATGleW5kl3bMC6ZGmW7lcoAbz9wQPEFbSZX-wJ8nV4pBrIQN5EyufVtvRMcZZWZhXBgfBEPD5mbqHLCWrjShtpspnXFo72Ys7ycRE8Lei8hY-9qT/s2855/Rez%20Abbasi%20Bazaar.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2801" data-original-width="2855" height="314" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd0aCTS10yHidOD8puhqt74B_ng8MXA0mIArFkdE18XjXOKHUm3DE9SRly-Gy5DbopiIggW6NCpiXYATGleW5kl3bMC6ZGmW7lcoAbz9wQPEFbSZX-wJ8nV4pBrIQN5EyufVtvRMcZZWZhXBgfBEPD5mbqHLCWrjShtpspnXFo72Ys7ycRE8Lei8hY-9qT/s320/Rez%20Abbasi%20Bazaar.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiif-rqq4xjGxKZqOYETjaF7EmIZfLFqVftIdTq4ACKsL7abSP7mKrqJcxo1JIrGYn_haAEiEN4TkCssIDF3e66_2f7cJsWHxSLaqI5Oyox8P7dVnFogm965hVl2oySaOQ1vrEhVpdaJzFgHaXBeSRuzW4VERrW-PqHTnruYk0ITNEKYtk_hJV0Kc5UXf4x/s1181/Rez%20Abbasi%20Bazaar%202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="924" data-original-width="1181" height="250" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiif-rqq4xjGxKZqOYETjaF7EmIZfLFqVftIdTq4ACKsL7abSP7mKrqJcxo1JIrGYn_haAEiEN4TkCssIDF3e66_2f7cJsWHxSLaqI5Oyox8P7dVnFogm965hVl2oySaOQ1vrEhVpdaJzFgHaXBeSRuzW4VERrW-PqHTnruYk0ITNEKYtk_hJV0Kc5UXf4x/s320/Rez%20Abbasi%20Bazaar%202.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><br /><div><div>Enjoy..</div><div><div><br /><p><br /></p></div></div></div></div>Dennis J. First up, Marcin Wasilewski, Slawomir Kurkiewicz , Michal Miskiewicz Trio. (Wow, those names are a mouth full! I guess they couldn't decide on a name for the Trio) This a nice introspective piano trio session, which gives you a calm before the storm of the big game. It lives up to the ECM high standards. Well worth a listen.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhROwXRhCL_MSG5WvqR6_3avbQj8oOPCxBo7zNhonwQFXz_4q60vxc-H0ZMsZYWgrUwdIbPJeAqYhVNNQUmU3cu1aptPTheHjeOe1Eg2rs8ozuqQqu8AfojkAzsMwq3c1OEzhnootXRgNlk1KfSR2GDC5tCIYEa9A9qFjR7PMy-0OBmZk8KkPwOe2i7j8Qf/s941/Marcin%20Wasilewski%20Slaomir%20Kurkiewicz%20Michhal%20Miskiewicz%20Trio.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="936" data-original-width="941" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhROwXRhCL_MSG5WvqR6_3avbQj8oOPCxBo7zNhonwQFXz_4q60vxc-H0ZMsZYWgrUwdIbPJeAqYhVNNQUmU3cu1aptPTheHjeOe1Eg2rs8ozuqQqu8AfojkAzsMwq3c1OEzhnootXRgNlk1KfSR2GDC5tCIYEa9A9qFjR7PMy-0OBmZk8KkPwOe2i7j8Qf/s320/Marcin%20Wasilewski%20Slaomir%20Kurkiewicz%20Michhal%20Miskiewicz%20Trio.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5CABkVY0tmI9gujVi2wCwYjhHPYQnYBZmb95guq_kg-WUc33d7h-oaxlffm3mPUsZ8XG9GVflyDvjc64rAnf9pC1axHEXiCewyfcRp5dMfFivCx-NmXAYsnzMXNsbxEDq9tjXjNSISg6v67SwcdB_zpi6gNz_Y5lBldVukmJ9Lmz-Yvz18L4sraP7b970/s1856/Marcin%20Wasilewski%20Slaomir%20Kurkiewicz%20Michhal%20Miskiewicz%20Trio%201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="940" data-original-width="1856" height="162" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5CABkVY0tmI9gujVi2wCwYjhHPYQnYBZmb95guq_kg-WUc33d7h-oaxlffm3mPUsZ8XG9GVflyDvjc64rAnf9pC1axHEXiCewyfcRp5dMfFivCx-NmXAYsnzMXNsbxEDq9tjXjNSISg6v67SwcdB_zpi6gNz_Y5lBldVukmJ9Lmz-Yvz18L4sraP7b970/s320/Marcin%20Wasilewski%20Slaomir%20Kurkiewicz%20Michhal%20Miskiewicz%20Trio%201.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjgZtiCJVUs0W7qQHkKOooIDRcixRXSC2b33oomMHEiW8VAigHxCpZ-9ymzNC7jCnTm9lIGsgLtEDe43_nwZ_aLsSDR-qppmzint1oTkRZ1mseK8K0DCAxSSUMAz3jEmhjiRImbUTjJl_8s6-hZd0l9ghlRo19U2rwousSOiPGX9UjKLp-stFZB0ZSz4vf/s1135/Marcin%20Wasilewski%20Slaomir%20Kurkiewicz%20Michhal%20Miskiewicz%20Trio%202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="917" data-original-width="1135" height="259" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjgZtiCJVUs0W7qQHkKOooIDRcixRXSC2b33oomMHEiW8VAigHxCpZ-9ymzNC7jCnTm9lIGsgLtEDe43_nwZ_aLsSDR-qppmzint1oTkRZ1mseK8K0DCAxSSUMAz3jEmhjiRImbUTjJl_8s6-hZd0l9ghlRo19U2rwousSOiPGX9UjKLp-stFZB0ZSz4vf/s320/Marcin%20Wasilewski%20Slaomir%20Kurkiewicz%20Michhal%20Miskiewicz%20Trio%202.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />My second selection is The California Guitar Trio Yamanashi Blues. This is a nice eclectic mix of musical selections, 1950's space age rock, jazz tunes, and a hint of Robert Fripp's King Crimson, owning to Fripp being executive producer, and re-mastering the music. I played on a championship football team. Football was the only team sport I liked much. I played freshman HS football, but stopped after that because as a tall lanky 150 lb kid playing as a lineman, I was up against Jersey farm boys twice my weight. But, before that, I was on the inaugural Elizabeth PAL (Police Athletic League) Pop Warner football team for two seasons. Our first season, we were 3-3, the second season we were undefeated, with 5 wins and a tie. We played for, and won the championship on the November Sunday morning Lee Harvey Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby. I remember people yelling it from the sidelines. Strange, I know there are home movies of the game and the team, somewhere, taken by a coach with a 8mm camera. I had a trophy, which I gave to my brother when I left home. Not sure, he still has it. Enjoy the game, not matter who you're rooting for. GO Taylor!!</span></span></p><p><span style="background-color: #444444; font-family: system-ui, -apple-system, "system-ui", ".SFNSText-Regular", sans-serif; font-size: 15px; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="color: #eeeeee;"><br /></span></span></p><p><span style="color: #eeeeee;"><span style="background-color: #444444; font-family: system-ui, -apple-system, "system-ui", ".SFNSText-Regular", sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">These are my con</span><span style="background-color: #444444; font-family: system-ui, -apple-system, "system-ui", ".SFNSText-Regular", sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">cepts for a re-design of our high school uniform. My first selection, "Terje Rydal /Miroslav Vitous /Jack Dejohnette" is self-tilled untitled recording from 1979, and it has strong Jazz Fusion leaning with European flavor, with Rydal's angular and spacy electric guitar, and guitar synthesizer styling, and Vitous, the well-known Czech bassist, in Free Jazz and Jazz Fusion. He was an original co-founder of Weather Report, with Joe Zawinul, and Wayne Shorter (reportedly he chose to leave Weather Report when the musical direction shift from more Free Jazz to a more commercial sound). Jack Dejohnette is also highly regarded jazz drummer and composer, well-known for playing with Miles Davis, and for a long association with pianist Keith Jarrett. This solid CD is for anyone with adventurous taste in music. Definitely give it a listen with an open mind.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPA7SHQpS5CaHWD3-VBuPCR5Jz4K83NziI_nTjXFWmBpgEuDMrRXOouzODkx52I1PrSyeod6F2bzK656AirsG7aaFEsl4A4_q_HVodVD5W5y40eP7c3pB5Jfy_2g10S0d99UeDOQaNimShZ_haBWVyoAFAT9P_11TXcwmr6Y4MIQeads4ZJkrUqKKtnnJQ/s944/Terje%20Rydal%20Miroslav%20Vitous%20Jack%20Dejohnette.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="937" data-original-width="944" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPA7SHQpS5CaHWD3-VBuPCR5Jz4K83NziI_nTjXFWmBpgEuDMrRXOouzODkx52I1PrSyeod6F2bzK656AirsG7aaFEsl4A4_q_HVodVD5W5y40eP7c3pB5Jfy_2g10S0d99UeDOQaNimShZ_haBWVyoAFAT9P_11TXcwmr6Y4MIQeads4ZJkrUqKKtnnJQ/s320/Terje%20Rydal%20Miroslav%20Vitous%20Jack%20Dejohnette.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqXXUiB37sy88jXFlbDcxKhos1RfvRSXunYcH5QL3enMi05o1OLNd0u1kXE1zAhE0Dz8Ox5MKm-LS1NsInbzztLODgdRYNueHUDPhrZeo7j7OXNkdEQUDn9VEQ7zBl8GEvWDuqWMPJR42pN7NKLOVtlGaZuclgtKvJn_eKQXh-1njEV6HOefcel5cFXK49/s1898/Terje%20Rydal%20Miroslav%20Vitous%20Jack%20Dejohnette%201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="942" data-original-width="1898" height="159" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqXXUiB37sy88jXFlbDcxKhos1RfvRSXunYcH5QL3enMi05o1OLNd0u1kXE1zAhE0Dz8Ox5MKm-LS1NsInbzztLODgdRYNueHUDPhrZeo7j7OXNkdEQUDn9VEQ7zBl8GEvWDuqWMPJR42pN7NKLOVtlGaZuclgtKvJn_eKQXh-1njEV6HOefcel5cFXK49/s320/Terje%20Rydal%20Miroslav%20Vitous%20Jack%20Dejohnette%201.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpxddmAjBwtl8KxU9NK3E_ltNfBSGVk5x2DjeEGtWQQ9i9GZk43WxOhOpEAIIMwGQJ5sJbdK6a1A8sAzuSB2PwSD3sZmoFsPrWECJTZPLHyL31q-Mv82n-j_F2tpBeSTCIlhF9hveYcjO4zmp5-q471jPixoiZXlsFp7P0x3khv2Qg8qca8Zf-5aK3mf1O/s1125/Terje%20Rydal%20Miroslav%20Vitous%20Jack%20Dejohnette%202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="926" data-original-width="1125" height="263" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpxddmAjBwtl8KxU9NK3E_ltNfBSGVk5x2DjeEGtWQQ9i9GZk43WxOhOpEAIIMwGQJ5sJbdK6a1A8sAzuSB2PwSD3sZmoFsPrWECJTZPLHyL31q-Mv82n-j_F2tpBeSTCIlhF9hveYcjO4zmp5-q471jPixoiZXlsFp7P0x3khv2Qg8qca8Zf-5aK3mf1O/s320/Terje%20Rydal%20Miroslav%20Vitous%20Jack%20Dejohnette%202.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />My second selection is Terje Rypdal Melodic Warrior. So, the debate continues. This video was inspired by this cool mech image posted on a sci-fi themed FB group. The comments strongly suggest the image was AI generated, whicn brings out some strong opinions. As a creative artist, I admit, I'm conflicted regarding AI Art...but the MECH image is insanely cool. So, I made this video, and included mech images I saved to my screensaver slideshow that I used to save various images I see online that interest me. What are your thoughts on AI generated art?</span></span></span></p><p><span style="background-color: #444444;"><span style="color: #eeeeee;"></span></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #eeeeee;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/9Zvp4TQBRec" width="320" youtube-src-id="9Zvp4TQBRec"></iframe></span></div><span style="color: #eeeeee;"><br /><span style="font-family: Roboto, Arial, sans-serif; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><br /></span></span><p></p><p><span style="background-color: #444444;"><span style="color: #eeeeee;"><span style="font-family: Roboto, Arial, sans-serif; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><br /></span></span></span></p><p><span style="background-color: #444444;"><span style="color: #eeeeee;"><span style="font-family: Roboto, Arial, sans-serif; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><br /></span></span></span></p>Dennis J. First up, John Basile and John Abercrombie Animations. The late John Abercrombie is one of my favorite jazz guitarist, since first hearing him in the early 1970s, so I'll pick up any recording of his as a leader, or sideman. Guitarist John Basile is new to me. This is a nice duo set that was the second release from Basile's label, Underhill Jazz, recorded in 2003. It's a little annoying that song composer credits are missing, I recognize the jazz standard "Sweet and Lovely", but I couldn't tell you its composer off the top of my head. It would be nice to know which tunes are their originals. This CD is still worth a listen.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj51XuPILovXhf8Zc5kGXNNS0F1lRs5f1Nle4wHyog0YR95L5uIKxUcMuQHOneqt0LR6WSXvbfqn2nor-mNSgyuJQIvtGkOFAR-_GuHU7mFH3tTj0E6t-shVlFKl2zx5vlNjIamSKSaWnzBj93H7MQ__8kfI5bD5V9kRsV_taGI__Yme_wJ8g2NRY6cGKTG/s941/John%20Abercrombie%20John%20Basile%20Animations.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="938" data-original-width="941" height="319" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj51XuPILovXhf8Zc5kGXNNS0F1lRs5f1Nle4wHyog0YR95L5uIKxUcMuQHOneqt0LR6WSXvbfqn2nor-mNSgyuJQIvtGkOFAR-_GuHU7mFH3tTj0E6t-shVlFKl2zx5vlNjIamSKSaWnzBj93H7MQ__8kfI5bD5V9kRsV_taGI__Yme_wJ8g2NRY6cGKTG/s320/John%20Abercrombie%20John%20Basile%20Animations.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUKWZVfn_KmAiZLxHQjDb6c2DF28c5qyFcdKzTM3L7h46poyx9HpB-BaWxsZiEoynDZmpN76az0u42AxeSoZrzSSfIL8y-gJ36EMVzDOfG0RZFL44UZUmjboP6JI_dhSh3Z8aqCi_Yt8ngpEMhPnSH4mXl-0dExKonwsVtNWRMMmL3cmKeB39KDHKNmCRu/s1875/John%20Abercrombie%20John%20Basile%20Animations%201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="933" data-original-width="1875" height="159" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUKWZVfn_KmAiZLxHQjDb6c2DF28c5qyFcdKzTM3L7h46poyx9HpB-BaWxsZiEoynDZmpN76az0u42AxeSoZrzSSfIL8y-gJ36EMVzDOfG0RZFL44UZUmjboP6JI_dhSh3Z8aqCi_Yt8ngpEMhPnSH4mXl-0dExKonwsVtNWRMMmL3cmKeB39KDHKNmCRu/s320/John%20Abercrombie%20John%20Basile%20Animations%201.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMJ8R1R4RFrbZJl0IW7Ei7jN2_1VVD8aGam6xY2D3KJxTmNP9sc06eTSft9VqQsdhobpV_JAVg7Mp1uwmmFj8P7dRGtEEwmGfWoiFp-yDz-vNrQQy8lmM-pt5Ziwh7qm3eCZKVwcRSUA9os8W7qt_Yem0ooVNndx1cNzLBCD1xeSDx0VDrmvaDJBKBoEEI/s941/John%20Abercrombie%20John%20Basile%20Animations%202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="941" data-original-width="937" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMJ8R1R4RFrbZJl0IW7Ei7jN2_1VVD8aGam6xY2D3KJxTmNP9sc06eTSft9VqQsdhobpV_JAVg7Mp1uwmmFj8P7dRGtEEwmGfWoiFp-yDz-vNrQQy8lmM-pt5Ziwh7qm3eCZKVwcRSUA9os8W7qt_Yem0ooVNndx1cNzLBCD1xeSDx0VDrmvaDJBKBoEEI/s320/John%20Abercrombie%20John%20Basile%20Animations%202.jpg" width="319" /></a></div><br />The third "John" is the leader of The John Pizzarelli Trio Live at Birdland. This a 2 CD set of warm and entertaining live set. It's casual, laid back presentation is very inviting. I'm not sure that it's my cup of tea (jazz) for repeated listening, since there is a lot of stage banter throughout. John, of course, is the son of legendary jazz guitarist, Bucky Pizzarelli, but well-known and accomplish in his own right. This CD set, is worth a listen, too.<div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp2k0s5bpWdv0yNVZQ4sOr0DDN19SBRmrpOoZ3j1kKZHMXk03P8RSPgoYwEtg4SqHTeubdUvsofi1JkRzwyJ3Dp5k_S4siUbU0t5RGgdM1b31NL8YRvKn_iuLOwRhXRhCsmEWsFxYdyzeYhA0XF9CqBzeDSg2kMMPWWOL0QCvMnoVXak8CU_G27ZbbTppn/s1092/John%20Pizzarelli%20Live%20at%20Birdland.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="982" data-original-width="1092" height="288" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp2k0s5bpWdv0yNVZQ4sOr0DDN19SBRmrpOoZ3j1kKZHMXk03P8RSPgoYwEtg4SqHTeubdUvsofi1JkRzwyJ3Dp5k_S4siUbU0t5RGgdM1b31NL8YRvKn_iuLOwRhXRhCsmEWsFxYdyzeYhA0XF9CqBzeDSg2kMMPWWOL0QCvMnoVXak8CU_G27ZbbTppn/s320/John%20Pizzarelli%20Live%20at%20Birdland.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-ypq6UkC-XFxGUBhRxHe5Ag2kXYDHmaZpPiedv8W2kVwclZW0vufHbAsFEaIcBH8c8fSUwC8B3zLh8vDsyG4nV2a57vUdyNP0BGe6p3idbDfvnDT0ISpCKIokKjKz7PhUtGVAv9xWJ0FQoeEu85elJ4XC3hYzvSi1Q_9_yDlpTE4vo8P5TVlipFcHAjn8/s1090/John%20Pizzarelli%20Live%20at%20Birdland%201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="980" data-original-width="1090" height="288" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-ypq6UkC-XFxGUBhRxHe5Ag2kXYDHmaZpPiedv8W2kVwclZW0vufHbAsFEaIcBH8c8fSUwC8B3zLh8vDsyG4nV2a57vUdyNP0BGe6p3idbDfvnDT0ISpCKIokKjKz7PhUtGVAv9xWJ0FQoeEu85elJ4XC3hYzvSi1Q_9_yDlpTE4vo8P5TVlipFcHAjn8/s320/John%20Pizzarelli%20Live%20at%20Birdland%201.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />So, these are two nice CD to keep an eye out for. My crazy timeline graphic helped me remember that I did a lot of personal creative stuff during an involuntary gap year after I graduated from high school and before entering SVA. That year, I discover Conan paperbacks with the Frazetta covers, and started doing sword & sorcery art which led to my Blackwolf character. Plus, there were several written out ideas, and scripts for my comic art. Now, I think of giving Saturday the prompt title: "Story Saturday" </span><span style="font-family: system-ui, -apple-system, "system-ui", ".SFNSText-Regular", sans-serif; font-size: 15px; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><a style="cursor: pointer; font-family: inherit;" tabindex="-1"></a></span><span style="font-family: system-ui, -apple-system, "system-ui", ".SFNSText-Regular", sans-serif; font-size: 15px; white-space-collapse: preserve;">to explore those old writing, Yes, some are a just as horrible as you a can imagine for 18 yr old nerd, with questionable writing skills, and an overused dictionary and "Word Finder". Some maybe more interested in Taylor Swift attending. In any case, here's two jazz selections to help fill the time. First up, Brad Mehldau Trio Day is Done. With the leader on piano, joined by Larry Grenadier on bass, and Jeff Ballard on drums. This is a tasteful collection of movie themes, a couple of Lennon/McCartney tunes, a Paul Simon tune and some originals all done in Mehldau's uniquely modern piano styling. Well worth a listen.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjllFoh2Nj7UNjMuwPbyY4qIg1Iq-4Z5C9ZbJjli_L3TIH-EXNl_dnzimrvmp1Ab7nOcyDnnNo-1UfE7QZqRnIpPXDrfj8UKFmoPE41-ya7rC2YS7e-ICaU1FiliC65vP25SlazblibFLZl3iVd9ztOJi9UJjJwITVCCx6UXnHlVpBzaDg1V60JBYGmeZgd/s1105/Brad%20Mehldau%20Trio%20Day%20is%20Done.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="983" data-original-width="1105" height="285" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjllFoh2Nj7UNjMuwPbyY4qIg1Iq-4Z5C9ZbJjli_L3TIH-EXNl_dnzimrvmp1Ab7nOcyDnnNo-1UfE7QZqRnIpPXDrfj8UKFmoPE41-ya7rC2YS7e-ICaU1FiliC65vP25SlazblibFLZl3iVd9ztOJi9UJjJwITVCCx6UXnHlVpBzaDg1V60JBYGmeZgd/s320/Brad%20Mehldau%20Trio%20Day%20is%20Done.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZRHemOEjZ-7HWJzQq8UuBX_5l29i6Z6NeLhqsJhW9KtKCBwRg80hukZjALU4vla4XcxRiS_7WIog-YWDdlODFK8aDAF-EVn4Bo-hwi_mqd3nJ0QbXV23L6usTt7pYZ1wLXBDed1WBbM43lUVPvB5_E7PW1zC-kaQko6ttiPenEgSCfSarm3Zvch-VFybj/s1899/Brad%20Mehldau%20Trio%20Day%20is%20Done%201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="938" data-original-width="1899" height="158" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZRHemOEjZ-7HWJzQq8UuBX_5l29i6Z6NeLhqsJhW9KtKCBwRg80hukZjALU4vla4XcxRiS_7WIog-YWDdlODFK8aDAF-EVn4Bo-hwi_mqd3nJ0QbXV23L6usTt7pYZ1wLXBDed1WBbM43lUVPvB5_E7PW1zC-kaQko6ttiPenEgSCfSarm3Zvch-VFybj/s320/Brad%20Mehldau%20Trio%20Day%20is%20Done%201.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0ji6vmqIeuNGm7moonJf547QzUPBwvhFLWpxDWNCfRG0OBhIpYt24angBf1reScRiKXmf9lvHWRhRx2sshUfFKO5_gjL4bq6dCxQ_Qj-ziWzgemifl5tDp4f6WgpIoSip4RIlPkja-utoyfnf18s4Cc8mNQZjBKxfRyZWNCktCn5hN0M2x0nL6DGPN4xs/s1111/Brad%20Mehldau%20Trio%20Day%20is%20Done%202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="980" data-original-width="1111" height="282" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0ji6vmqIeuNGm7moonJf547QzUPBwvhFLWpxDWNCfRG0OBhIpYt24angBf1reScRiKXmf9lvHWRhRx2sshUfFKO5_gjL4bq6dCxQ_Qj-ziWzgemifl5tDp4f6WgpIoSip4RIlPkja-utoyfnf18s4Cc8mNQZjBKxfRyZWNCktCn5hN0M2x0nL6DGPN4xs/s320/Brad%20Mehldau%20Trio%20Day%20is%20Done%202.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />Next is an anthology collection, The Blue Note Years 1955–1960 The Jazz Message. Many of the recordings of the artists on the 2 CD were made long before I was into jazz, but of course I've learned of importance to the music over the year. I like to recommend anthologies like this to new jazz listeners as it gives them a wider range of musicians and styles to sample, in contrast to suggesting a certain artist or album like Miles Davis' Kind of Blue (a great choice, but variety is the spice of life). This would be a perfect CD for background music for a Jazz brunch, or ease you into a football game. <div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFAhxlpOKBPZqRxVJHoYJl91IarC2f12kfE28f4ocRmSEk_4yiGLYEoN_NTWTLANq-fAXbmhWMFuHwX7PgvUifBTCuhV-uBOt4XQw-QQlgQCHoTgxA_JfKzXJBD3LevsjEh1JCx4g-db6a4WlAfnpaYEfQUbZy-qKw7x7yKIaMZN60T7SMDsAtWk_S8lib/s1097/Blue%20Note%20Years%20%20Vol%202%20The%20Jazz%20Message.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="975" data-original-width="1097" height="284" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFAhxlpOKBPZqRxVJHoYJl91IarC2f12kfE28f4ocRmSEk_4yiGLYEoN_NTWTLANq-fAXbmhWMFuHwX7PgvUifBTCuhV-uBOt4XQw-QQlgQCHoTgxA_JfKzXJBD3LevsjEh1JCx4g-db6a4WlAfnpaYEfQUbZy-qKw7x7yKIaMZN60T7SMDsAtWk_S8lib/s320/Blue%20Note%20Years%20%20Vol%202%20The%20Jazz%20Message.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOEPXK07evCeClcwZYcd-a09kHsarTs-lantZGcoL4Fu_h-i7IR3lVQB7B44mCDwwOx9Od4nfCoBBel18ltLkZTDDHKmUZ8BiQSr88XfUdeLbqjC1od9_JOF7P2HZ36M_je345YIfZYXbge-HHt1sJMyNqcFkkMotrwmGs9FMgF5qP3l45x0CbHiOP9Dox/s1092/Blue%20Note%20Years%20%20Vol%202%20The%20Jazz%20Message%201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="973" data-original-width="1092" height="285" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOEPXK07evCeClcwZYcd-a09kHsarTs-lantZGcoL4Fu_h-i7IR3lVQB7B44mCDwwOx9Od4nfCoBBel18ltLkZTDDHKmUZ8BiQSr88XfUdeLbqjC1od9_JOF7P2HZ36M_je345YIfZYXbge-HHt1sJMyNqcFkkMotrwmGs9FMgF5qP3l45x0CbHiOP9Dox/s320/Blue%20Note%20Years%20%20Vol%202%20The%20Jazz%20Message%201.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />Lets's hope for and Bills win. Here's my monthly musical tribute to <span style="font-family: Roboto, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; white-space-collapse: preserve;">jazz artists who have a birth in January. Jazzy Birthday is a tune, written in 1978, with the original title "More or Les". The "Les" in the title refers to a old friend of Les Bernstein, not Les Paul the great guitar player, and father (inventor) of the solid body electric guitar, although it could, also. This jazzy tune was inspired my a jam session I have with Les (B.) when we work together at an animation company back in late '70s. The tune was my early attempt at jazz chord melody, It laid dormant until I posted a video in 2009. I wrote the lyrics Jazzy Birthday about that time. Actually, it was the first lyrics I'm wrote since the 1980's. It seems I could never pull off playing the tune and singing it at the same time. Finally, technology solved the problem.</span></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/mnK828QwpyU" width="320" youtube-src-id="mnK828QwpyU"></iframe></div><br /><p><br /></p>Dennis J. But it's still a little snowy, and bitter cold here in Rochester. I'm quite happy to stay in, stay warm, and enjoy these two ECM releases. First up, the Marcin Wasilewski Trio, the leader on piano, Slawomir Kurkiewicz on double bass, and Michel Miskewicz on drum. I admit I never heard of these musicians, except I came across their CDs in posts on the ECM Facebook group. Since, I'm a big fan of ECM records, I'll any of their releases a try. I like this trio for it introspective ECM feel. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjB1iaQMP79hhbN0YAOM403cQWKDKOuzgdsfLYKwNJlhPjlw_TDIonhhOgYlkVze0pIqq1p4eAC_dxWjeIelCJjjvKqK0aSKGiTPKuFZUEWFiXD7wZX9k5QDoFaXjMB3A1h2vnp9jW8s4tRquD37cjjHSNMO1TVzOudb2cXcyOGnXz9qXS-dD8Akmefg6DD/s936/Marcin%20Wasilewski%20Trio%20January.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="936" data-original-width="935" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjB1iaQMP79hhbN0YAOM403cQWKDKOuzgdsfLYKwNJlhPjlw_TDIonhhOgYlkVze0pIqq1p4eAC_dxWjeIelCJjjvKqK0aSKGiTPKuFZUEWFiXD7wZX9k5QDoFaXjMB3A1h2vnp9jW8s4tRquD37cjjHSNMO1TVzOudb2cXcyOGnXz9qXS-dD8Akmefg6DD/s320/Marcin%20Wasilewski%20Trio%20January.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgR1mbmZYoM2UIkx5V8RIOni7YArkckwT4n4mi40xe5-1S3SZxItHwafUQNb5EHKFxAsq7tayCQ-fuq5ceCDqTMLdz7LobqoqHIu5-JAwy5VgB1xsrYDth17soMeNjMhcWwrIWqTFA17AwY3i-_O2WtH7lJFeZc6Q5yRjgFG_RMB9vcIdtkaGKhDLN-vcqH/s1886/Marcin%20Wasilewski%20Trio%20January%201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="928" data-original-width="1886" height="157" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgR1mbmZYoM2UIkx5V8RIOni7YArkckwT4n4mi40xe5-1S3SZxItHwafUQNb5EHKFxAsq7tayCQ-fuq5ceCDqTMLdz7LobqoqHIu5-JAwy5VgB1xsrYDth17soMeNjMhcWwrIWqTFA17AwY3i-_O2WtH7lJFeZc6Q5yRjgFG_RMB9vcIdtkaGKhDLN-vcqH/s320/Marcin%20Wasilewski%20Trio%20January%201.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0b9lWH8ew6PdQHk8NS8Lk6Dt67dRZ0vAxJCu7rJN8v8i-GNkKIauSYFswFgztRv3zTLZ7QXV29wiNPOcNc-lXYVeBvg9xyK5bwcVSQGbKJGUaiK4_7GbnCEVahcBqwlEg3ewchVbCYhpbCu5kgghjXrC2xS0J1EivmSGR-BXmDFBaM0Z7Ujp_3McuyDGh/s1888/Marcin%20Wasilewski%20Trio%20January%202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="952" data-original-width="1888" height="161" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0b9lWH8ew6PdQHk8NS8Lk6Dt67dRZ0vAxJCu7rJN8v8i-GNkKIauSYFswFgztRv3zTLZ7QXV29wiNPOcNc-lXYVeBvg9xyK5bwcVSQGbKJGUaiK4_7GbnCEVahcBqwlEg3ewchVbCYhpbCu5kgghjXrC2xS0J1EivmSGR-BXmDFBaM0Z7Ujp_3McuyDGh/s320/Marcin%20Wasilewski%20Trio%20January%202.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikgvH81vehI1qBS_K8T01CCsQZEqnnuUNnOt572zWH6b3ta6mZeFUzYUzpVE43CPVc4SLBL5J2DYyOGAyYJ5BZ_4Rxqbx6kwE9YjY_lGt0uDphZO8-X1jmNltTpnjzxbZIe1AOhtlZc4I1Qvise5M6EzubwKirUKIicnKrDN2q2ishBsXxcTD2BAk1PcGC/s1087/Marcin%20Wasilewski%20Trio%20January%203.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="919" data-original-width="1087" height="271" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikgvH81vehI1qBS_K8T01CCsQZEqnnuUNnOt572zWH6b3ta6mZeFUzYUzpVE43CPVc4SLBL5J2DYyOGAyYJ5BZ_4Rxqbx6kwE9YjY_lGt0uDphZO8-X1jmNltTpnjzxbZIe1AOhtlZc4I1Qvise5M6EzubwKirUKIicnKrDN2q2ishBsXxcTD2BAk1PcGC/s320/Marcin%20Wasilewski%20Trio%20January%203.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />This next ECM release, like the first, was another leap of faith. "We got nothing", was the first comment from producer Arthur Rankin after the pilot was reviewed.
</span></span><p><span style="background-color: #444444; color: #eeeeee;"><span style="font-family: Roboto, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; white-space-collapse: preserve;">Hi, I'm Dennis J. Woodyard. I was the staff artist for Rankin/Bass for the last 30 episodes of the Thundercats for which I designed the secondary characters, props, and some backgrounds, (plus, I wrote two episodes, "Shadowmaster" and "Well of Doubt"). I also handled post production duties on the Comic Strip shows. In 1988, after the completion of Comic Strip, Rankin/Bass looked to develop a new show to present to new owner, Warner Bros. CBTV was that show that need to be produced at lower budget due to the cratering of the afternoon animation syndication market. CBTV was the show to fit the bill. To his credit Arthur Rankin, still pitched the show to Warner Bros. His "we got nothing" remains my most memorable quote of my animation career from any executive. My comic book loving friends will enjoy the seeing the indie comic books selected to be featured in the show.</span> </span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/BcWW2Q1fcoM" width="320" youtube-src-id="BcWW2Q1fcoM"></iframe></div><br /><p><br /></p>Dennis J.
